Mickey Fields, Monster Tenor (Left Bank ’66)
I first heard about Mickey Fields, Baltimore’s greatest sax player, when I was editing the Baltimore Jazz Alliance’s newsletter. Later when I was asked to contribute a chapter to a Baltimore jazz history book, Mickey was central to the action. Thanks to the Fields family for sharing their memories for that chapter, and for the Left Bank ’66 project, a CD release of a historical recording by Mickey and his bandmates.
Papering Paul’s Pockets (Huffington Post)
This video on Ron Paul’s supporters ran on The Huffington Post In 2008, when I traveled with other journalism students from the CUNY Grad School of Journalism to New Hampshire to cover the primaries.
Dennis Decries Dittos (Huffington Post)
On the same trip I produced another Huffington Post video on Dennis Kucinich.
Hiram & Juanita Caroom: A Love Story
This is the love story of my grandparents Hiram and Juanita Caroom, told through oral history interviews and snapshots from their photo albums.
Brad Gunson & Wayne Krantz
My friend and collaborator Brad Gunson’s Master’s recital at NYU featured professor and absolute jazz guitar shredder Wayne Krantz. This is one of my favorite performances.
